Inner Circle MBA, headed up by former director of Recruitment and Admissions, Leadership Programmes at London Business School, Brett Hunter said there is a “gap in the market for an admissions consultancy that looks beyond the candidate’s resume to understand their motivations and goals”.

The first step of the path the consultancy sets is creating an accurate view of career success and then “building a tailored strategy for the individual’s entire MBA journey”.
Hunter, who was also previously Chair of Admissions Committees at London Business School, as well as at Columbia Business School and HKU Business School through the EMBA-Global partnerships programme at London Business School, noted that Inner Circle “isn’t just about helping people get that acceptance letter”.
“I believe that the admissions stage is very much part of the MBA journey and needs to be done right to maximise opportunities post MBA,” he added.

“Of course, based on my experience, I know what it takes to be admitted to a top tier MBA program and can help candidates tell a story that matches what a top tier MBA programme wants. But, more importantly, I want to draw that out of people.”
Inner Circle is focusing on international students, as most non-US MBA applicants are seeking programs outside their home countries, he told The PIE.
“Given the nature of the global MBA market, my clients are technically from anywhere in the world,” he said. “There are some markets for MBA applicants that are bigger than others, though, and the bulk of my clients will come from the US, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Benelux, Switzerland, Brazil, Argentina and India.”
While top European schools tend to admit around 30-35% of applicants, in the US acceptance to highly selective schools range from 6.2% at Stanford GSB, to 12.5% at Harvard Business School, and up to 35.5% at UT Austin McCombs, Hunter noted.
